Although I don’t personally live very close to Northport, every Sunday I head up the Island to volunteer over at the Lewis Oliver Farm Animal Sanctuary, an almost hidden gem nestled within Northport Village. Then, after I’ve worked up a good appetite, make my way up the road to Batata Cafe, who just recently began offering a vegan menu to patrons.
Filled with eclectic foods, like quinoa cakes stuffed with sweet potato, zucchini and mushroom, chickpea nuggets with pesto sauce for dipping, and many other creative dishes, you’ll be hard-pinned to NOT find something that looks absolutely delicious and nutritious.
While the restaurant itself is not very large in size, visitors can feel free to choose something off of their constantly changing vegan menu, or simply pick up a pre-packaged meal to go from their vegan/gluten-free fridge – which is always stocked with yummy vegan-friendly options!
Don’t forget while you’re there to take a peek into the Sweet Annabelle’s Vegan Ice Cream freezer located within the cafe. The perfect sweet treat to end your meal with!
