When it’s time for a snack, instead of picking up a sugar filled, high-calorie pouch of something or another, why not choose to snack on something that is both delicious, and nutritious? SuperSeedz Gourmet Pumpkin Seeds fit that exact ticket!
With all of these four flavors (We could only find the flavors Really Naked, Sea Salt, Tomato Italiano and Somewhat Spicy but SuperSeedz also makes these additional flavors: Maple Sugar & Sea Salt, Cinnamon & Sugar, Coco Joe, Super Spicy, and Curious Curry.) coming in at under 200 calories per serving, carrying 8-9g of plant protein and packing in 220mg of potassium and 35-40% of the FDA’s daily recommended amount of magnesium, both of which can be difficult to find in foods, these seeds are the perfect pick for a quick mid-day snack. Here’s some more information, and our personal rating, of each of these four flavors.
The first pumpkin seed I tried ever, was the Sea Salt flavor of SuperSeedz and it was the perfect flavor to get me started on my pumpkin seed kick. While not very potent flavor wise, the added sea salt gives this pumpkin seed the perfect mixture of taste and simplicity. If you have never had pumpkin seeds before I’d highly recommend trying this flavor first to get your feet wet.
My next favorite flavor would have to be the Tomato Italiano. The medley of spices used in this one, like the oregano, basil, and parsley, give this seed a really full taste. Everything about this seed absolutely screams Italian. From the traditional spices to the crushed tomato to the granulated garlic, you’ll have a hard time convincing yourself that you didn’t just take a bite out of something straight from your favorite Italian restaurant. This flavor also has the least amount of calories, coming in at 140 calories per 1 oz serving.
After Tomato Italiano, my next favorite flavor is Somewhat Spicy, and the name is true to taste. While not being incredibly spicy, this flavor does bring some heat with sprinkled cayenne pepper and paprika. Personally I do wish it was a little bit more spicy. Maybe in the future when I eventually come across it, the Super Spicy flavor will be more to my liking.
If I had to choose a least favorite flavor, I would have to choose the Really Naked Flavor which is unsalted. It was just a little bit too naked for me. On the bright side though, this flavor packs in the most protein with 9g per 1 oz serving.
